We traveled to Senegal, the land of the Jollof rice, Thieboudienne, roasted fish and dibi restaurants. It was a very interesting experience getting to know the true Senegalese.
We also visit Saint Louis, which was the capital of French Africa during colonial times. We took a ferry to Gore Island which in my opinion is the single most haunting place I have ever visited. It is a beautiful island, however you can feel the spirit of those who fought for their lives hundreds of years ago.
My take away from the visit is the incredible spirit and confidence of the Senegalese people. From the artist on the corner to the Chef in the restaurant and cab drivers etc. They have this confidence that I have not seen before. It is truly a place to visit.
